1. Introduction

KALAN Lite ("KALAN", "we", "us") is a personal budgeting application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use our website and mobile app.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and an optional display name. Your password is stored as a secure hash by our authentication provider.
  • Financial information: You may enter monthly income, fixed expenses, individual expenses, and currency preferences. This information is used to calculate your daily spending allowance and to display your spending history.
  • Technical information: We collect basic device and browser information, app usage data, and crash reports to help us improve stability and fix bugs.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the KALAN budgeting service, including daily allowance calculations and expense tracking.
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the app.
  • Send essential account-related emails, such as confirmation or password-reset messages.
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Supabase, a backend service that uses encryption in transit and at rest. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Our hosting and database provider, Supabase, which processes data on our behalf.
  • Legal authorities, if required by applicable law or to protect our rights.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can update your profile or delete your account and associated data from inside the KALAN app at Settings → Delete Account.

7. Data retention

When you delete your account, your account information and app data are removed from our active systems, except where we are legally required to keep certain records.

8. Children

KALAN is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.
